Basic information Kreuzlingen
Kreuzlingen is not only the first Swiss town you encounter upon entering the country from Germany, it is also very well placed in terms of the quality of life as the largest Swiss town on the shores of Lake Constance. Its idyllic lakeside location is complemented by gastronomic, cultural and sporting treasures. See for yourself when you visit the UBS ARENA Kreuzlingen in June 2008. So what's so special about Kreuzlingen? First and foremost, there is the lake, the town's water access. The town's lakefront is the most beautiful on the whole of Lake Constance, generously appointed and landscaped with a natural feel. The entire lakefront belongs to the town and is thus open to the public for sports, fun and recreation. A brand new attraction was created right beside the lake in 2007: The Sculpture Border, with 22 sculptures by Johannes Dörflinger, now marks the border between Switzerland and Germany, replacing the demolished border fence. Other sights worth seeing on the waterfront are the Seeburg castle with its own restaurant, the animal park and the Seemuseum with unique exhibits on the history of shipping and fishing on Lake Constance.
